In honor of tonights CMA Awards, I'm takin' y'all back to 2014 with The King and The Chief.
Back before Luke Combs & Morgan Wallen were dominating in the genre, back when "Play It Again" by Luke Bryan and "Stay" by Florida Georgia Line spent consecutive weeks at number 1, and back when the CMA Award's had over 14 million viewers, compared to last year's record low at just 6.6 million.
The year 2014 doesn't seem that far away but if you're anything like me, realizing it's almost 2023 doesn't make you feel so, well..young. This year, however, Luke Bryan will take on hosting duties yet again with legendary quarterback, Peyton Manning.
Contrary to popular belief, we don't have to go back to the 90's or early 2000's to find decent showings from the Country Music Association. Just go back 8 years ago when Eric Church had the pleasure of sharing the stage with George Strait to perform his 2003 single "Cowboys Like Us."
Check it out below and Tune in tonight on ABC (or don't.) Oh, and bring back Brad and Carrie as hosts.
